Doug Smith,
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

Dear Friends of UCR Baseball,

I just wanted to give an update on the RBA and UCR Fall Ball. The Fall Season has started for the Baseball Program and is moving along smoothly. An update on our Coaching staff, our Staff of Head Coach Justin Johnson, Assistant Coaches, Lloyd Acosta, and Chaneng Varela are all returning. In addition, former Head Coach Troy Percival has returned as the Pitching Coach.

There have been questions about Alumni Golf. We will be having our Annual Tournament on Friday, January 23rd , 2026, at Dos Lagos Golf Club. It will be different in the sense that this year it will not be a Fundraiser. It is meant to be an event where we can all get together at a fee level that will only cover our costs. It is our hope that this will allow everyone who is interested to be involved. More information will be available on the RBA Website, riversidebaseballassociation.org, soon.

There have also been some questions regarding the RBA’s role in connection with the University. The RBA is a completely independent organization. We are a registered private IRS 501(c)(3) not for profit organization whose primary goal is to raise funds for UCR Baseball. The Board Members are Mark Levin, Eddie Orozco, Sandy  Bellefeuille, Trevor Hairgrove, Ben Doucette and myself. I welcome you to reach out  to us if you have any concerns or thoughts to further our goal of providing the best experience possible for our UCR Baseball Players.

Thanks again for all that you do

-Doug
