RBA CEO Elected to Riverside Sport Hall of Fame

Well deserved, Coach! God bless

The Board of Directors of the Riverside Baseball Association is proud to announce that Riverside Baseball Association Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Doug Smith has been elected to the Riverside Sport Hall of Fame. We know that many of you, like all of us on the Board, believe that this honor is long overdue.

In 2005, Doug Smith replaced Retired UCR Head Baseball Coach Smitheran and now follows Coach Smitheran into the Riverside Sport Hall of Fame. Doug was part of the UCR Baseball Program for more than four decades as a Player, Assistant Coach, and Head Coach, helping the Highlander Program transition from Division II to Division I, guiding it to its first Big West Conference Title in 2007, and a trip to the NCAA Regionals that same year. After the season, with a program-best conference record of 16-5 in tow, Smith was named Big West Coach of the Year. In addition, Doug Smith helped develop and send nearly 150 players into Professional Baseball and 15 to the Major Leagues, including 2024 Major Leaguers Joe Kelly, Matt Andriese, and Rob Brantly.

The Banquet to honor all 2025 Inductees to the Riverside Sports Hall of Fame will take place on May 5, 2025, at the Fowler Events Center (8432 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92504) at California Baptist University. The event begins at 4:30 pm and reservations and ticket purchases can be made directly through the Riverside Sport Hall of Fame website.

Please reserve this date on your Calendar so that we can all show our appreciation and support for Doug and all he has done our UCR baseball program.

Thank you all and look forward to a great event.
